• Received a three-year Accreditation from The Joint Commission; along with the following accreditations: AABB and CAP for the Laboratory; ACSCOC for the Cancer Program; ACR and FDA for Radiology/Mammography.
• Governed by a 17-member Board of Directors composed of area citizens who receive no payment for their services.
• Patient Encounters: Inpatient admissions - 9,254; Emergency Care Center visits - 43,222; Outpatient visits - 48,040, Express Care visits - 7,887.
• Average daily census - 76.7 patients, excluding newborns. Average length of stay - 3 days.
• As of the pay period ending on June 30, 2007, SMH was employing 1,090 workers, including full-time, part-time, and float pool. Approximately 85% of all employees live in St. Mary’s County.
• Medical staff of 252, including 78 active, 97 courtesy, 28 consulting, 25 Allied Health and 24 Emeritus physicians....the overwhelming majority are board certified.
• Annual FY08 operating budget of $125 million.
• Receiving a majority of its income from third party payors as shown below in the Payor Mix chart:
• Provided more than $6.9 million in uncompensated services to the citizens of St. Mary’s County over the past fiscal year.
• A total of 1,074 babies delivered at St. Mary’s Hospital during the year.
• In Maryland hospitals, average charge per case as of July 2007 - $10,720; average charge per case at St. Mary’s Hospital - $5,932.
