On March 9, the local Rescue Squad rushed me to your Emergency Department. I am a patient with a heart condition and was suffering from an uncontrollable nose bleeding hemorrhage. When I arrived at St. Mary’s Hospital, Dr. Pieter Esterhay was on duty. To tell you how professional and caring he was is an understatement. His knowledge and efficient ways made me feel that I was in good hands. I was admitted to your Medical/Surgical/Pediatrics unit where I was cared for by a number of nurses and technicians. There are no words to express my gratitude for the professionalism and compassion shown by every individual who cared for me. Each one seemed to know when to be there and how to comfort and care at the right time. They are a tremendous credit to St. Mary’s Hospital – and your facility shines because of people like them. Please let them know that their actions are very much appreciated!

We would like to thank everyone for their care and kindness while we stayed in your Medical/Surgical/Pediatric Unit. My husband has been in a lot of hospitals over the years, and we have never been treated with such respect. Thank you to all!

I was taken to your facility on December 4 due to complications with a gall bladder removal. I want to let you know that you have angels impersonating nurses at St. Mary’s Hospital! I was treated with such tender care and compassion that I am brought to tears in remembrance. Genuine understanding and a true gift of service, without which, I would have been lost. Medical/Surgical/Pediatric unit nurses Peggy Crim, Michelle Delahay and Diane Mathis are right where they should be. I was in so much pain that I started losing perspective, but they never, not once, lost patience with me and I never felt abandoned. They are truly a class act!

Please accept this letter of commendation and appreciation for a particular employee of St. Mary’s Hospital and the entire labor and delivery staff. We recently moved to St. Mary’s County when I was four months pregnant. I was a bit worried as to what to expect in a new and very different place, not to mention finding the challenge of finding a new
November 1, 2007 was my lucky day as I arrived at St. Mary’s in labor and ready to deliver my third and final child. I was introduced to Kathy Vogt, RN, and from that moment on, I felt calm. I had no doubt she would be taking exceptional care of me. My delivery was extremely easy and Kathy was an incredible source of support throughout the process. I was always kept informed of the next step, told of my child’s care and given the opportunity to ask questions. Please pass my deepest appreciation on to Kathy and the staff members in the Women’s Health & Family Birthing Center for taking such good care of me and family.
