Did you know that 95% of the population will need blood during their lifetime? St. Mary's Hospital relies on the Greater Chesapeake & Potomac Region Red Cross to supply blood and blood products for  our patients. Since 2002, Health Connections at St. Mary's Hospital has sponsored blood drives with the regional Red Cross to assist in maintaining the blood  suppy for our community.  We are inviting you to join us by becoming one of the 1300 blood donors that are needed each day to meet the needs of patients in the Greater Chesapeake & Potomac Region, including St. Mary's County.

The blood donation process takes one to one and a half hours to complete.  The actual donation takes 8-10 minutes, the registration, health history, and refreshments fill in the rest of the time.  As an added incentive the Red Cross offers a donor thank you gift at each drive.  St. Mary's Hospital and PNC Bank Southern Maryland offer door prizes at each of the drives. Even better is the wonderful feeling you'll get from knowing that you've helped give the gift of life to a member of the community.
