Camp Sunrise

June 14 and 15, 2008

As summer approaches, it is time once again for our annual children’s bereavement camp. Camp sunrise is a grief camp for children ages 6-12 who have experienced the loss of a loved one and provides each child an opportunity to remember and honor their loved one.  Campers will be assigned a mentor who will “shadow” them throughout their adventures while attending the camp.  Some of those adventures include working with horses, canoeing, puppet show, nature time, face painting, memory books and various other group activities, which will enable the children to express their grief in unique ways.  For more information or to register a child for the camp, please contact the -Bereavement office at 301-475-6423.

Sharing Life’s Journey

The life-threatening illness of a loved one brings with it one of the most difficult challenges an individual must ever face.  Grief is universal.  Hospice of St. Mary’s is dedicated to providing support, understanding, and facilitation of healing for people in grief.  The following Hospice Bereavement Services are available to Hospice families and also members of the community who are grieving the death of a loved one, no matter what the cause:

  • Individual counseling
  • Regular contact by phone or visit to Hospice families
  • Bereavement Training groups
  • Adult and Children Grief Support Groups
  • Special programs and activities
  • Lending library
  • School Support Groups

Special thanks to all the children who participate on the day of remembrance to honor their loved ones!  Thank you to all the parents who support their children’s participation.
