Emergency Care Center or Express Care?
With winter well underway, the flu season is in full swing. But no matter what time of year it is, it’s important to know where to go if you or a loved one is ill. Here’s a quick checklist that will help you make an informed decision. If you have any doubt about the situation, dial 9-1-1 and speak with a trained operator.
Head to the Emergency Care Center if you’re experiencing:
- Chest pain with shortness of breath and/or sweating
- Serious or severe injuries, burns or electrical shock
- Difficulty with breathing, such as rapid or labored breathing
- Change in mental status, such as suddenly becoming disoriented and confused
- A cut or break in the skin with bleeding that won’t stop
- Ingestion of a poisonous substance or medication
Go to Express Care if you or a loved one has the following symptoms:
- Any illness or injury that would prompt you to see your primary physician
- Sprains
- Laceration repair (minor cuts)
- Minor infections
- Removal of foreign bodies from the eye
- Treatment of minor burns
