Growing with Southern Maryland

If you’ve driven by the hospital lately, you’ve undoubtedly noticed a few changes.  Excavators, Bobcats, temporary fencing and directional signs indicate that our expansion and renovation projects are in full swing.  

Over the last year, we’ve undertaken an enormous project near our Emergency Care Center (ECC).  There are many exciting aspects to this expansion – several of which are nearing completion.

Here are a few of our most recent happenings:

• An imaging suite dedicated solely to providing radiology services for ECC patients is now complete.  For Emergency Care Center patients requiring x-rays, this equates to faster turnaround time. 
• Both the new 64-slice CT scanner and new MRI equipment are been successfully installed near the Emergency Care Center. 
• Our Imaging staff members have received training on the new platforms and both the CT and MRI are now in use.
• The Sexual Assault Forensic Examination (SAFE) room has been constructed.
• An additional Fast Track room is now available for patients.
