Welcoming Our Newest Vice President
St. Mary’s Hospital is pleased to introduce Richard Braam, CPA, MBA, as its newest Vice President for Finance. Mr. Braam joined the administrative team at St. Mary’s Hospital from Bon Secours Health System in Baltimore, Maryland, where he served as the Chief Financial Officer. He has also worked for MedStar Health, Keswick Multicare Center, CoreCare Systems, Inc. and the Malcolm Grow Medical Center at Andrews Air Force Base. Mr. Braam has more than 20 years of professional accounting and financial experience in the healthcare field.
“St. Mary’s Hospital offers great opportunities to grow,” he said. “Before working here, I had heard nothing but good things about the hospital.” Mr. Braam said he was particularly drawn to St. Mary’s County because of its close-knit community.
Mr. Braam graduated from the University of Maryland with a bachelor’s degree in accounting and earned his MBA with a concentration in finance from the University of Baltimore.
Originally from Minnesota, Mr. Braam now resides in Leonardtown with his wife, Debbie, and two kids, Ryan and Michelle. He is also an avid marathon runner and a member of the Chesapeake Bay Running Club and plans to become more involved in community activities in the near future.
We are also incredibly grateful for the support Paul Barber, the former Vice President for Finance, provided over the last 36 years. His contributions have helped bring us where we are today – a leading healthcare provider in Southern Maryland. Among his many accomplishments, Mr. Barber conducted the funding of our capital expansion projects and new equipment and can boast the best financial track record in the state of Maryland. In addition, Mr. Barber is known for his famous jokes and for being a fixture on the Southern Maryland music scene for 35 years. In fact, to help show our thanks for all of Mr. Barber’s support over the years, the hospital’s administrative wing will now be named in his honor. Thank you, Mr. Barber, for your many years of service! |
