Diabetes Maze

Are you having trouble navigating the maze surrounding diabetes? You're not alone! Over 21 million Americans have diabetes, while six million of them don't even know they have it.

The word diabetes frightens many people. Others shrug it off, reasoning that, if they feel healthy, there's no need for them to worry.

Both ways of thinking are of concern. It doesn't have to be frightening. You can manage your disease and thus enhance your health. There is a reason to be concerned about diabetes, since it can lead to serious health problems. The complications of diabetes (heart disease, blindness, foot amputations, kidney disease) don't have to happen. When you know how to keep your blood sugar under control and how to take care of yourself, you can live long and well with diabetes.

From medicines to monitoring, exercise to eye health, food choices to foot care, our team of diabetes experts will help you every step of the way!

Our diabetes education program covers all you need to know about living with diabetes, including:

  • Treatment options
  • Meal planning (involve the person who shops and cooks for you, in the program)
  • Activity and exercise
  • Medications
  • Monitoring (we can assist you in getting a glucometer and show you how your insurance company can help pay for your supplies)
  • High and low blood sugar
  • Chronic complications detection, treatment, and prevention
  • Goal setting and problem-solving for daily living
  • Coping and resources
