Designed to nurture our mothers-to-be, each of the five birthing rooms is furnished with the ambience of home. For patients who wish to experience the holistic benefits of aquatic therapy, a Jacuzzi room is available 24 hours a day upon request. Twelve postpartum suites complete the floor and were specifically created to accommodate families sharing in this once-in-a-lifetime experience.
When it’s time for your little one to make his or her arrival, ensuring that you have a safe and positive experience is our ultimate goal. Our comfortable birthing suites are appointed with hardwood floors, a comfortable rocker next to the bed, a television and even a stereo to play relaxing music throughout your labor. Additionally, we’ve added a sleeper sofa so that a supportive friend or family member can remain by your side throughout your stay.
And after your birthing experience, you’ll enjoy relaxing in one of our beautiful and private postpartum suites. Because our focus is on family, these suites were designed specifically to accommodate visiting siblings and other relatives. Each suite contains many of the comforts of home, including a full shower and other facilities.
Care for the Whole Nine Months…and Beyond
At. St. Mary's Hospital, we understand that your family’s well-being is of the utmost importance. During this special time, your obstetrician may suggest that you consult with a physician specializing in high-risk pregnancy. In the past, making an office visit to see a specialist involved spending several hours on the road, navigating unfamiliar streets and battling rush-hour traffic. However, with the implementation of our telemedicine program, consulting with an expert is as easy as driving to our facility. Now into its second year, St. Mary's Hospital is the only facility in Southern Maryland to bring residents the ease and convenience of skilled, high-risk pregnancy care.
Throughout your pregnancy you may need to make an occasional visit to our facility. Our Women’s Health & Family Birthing Center offers a bright, efficient Maternal Outpatient Testing Suite for you to receive streamlined care as needed during pregnancy and postpartum. Our attentive staff members will do their best to ensure that each visit is positive experience for you and your family.
Once he or she is born, your baby will receive the gentlest care from our staff of highly-trained nurses and physicians. St. Mary's Hospital has a telemedicine link with Children’s National Medical Center. Should your baby require a consultation with a specialist, a comprehensive examination and diagnosis can be conducted in real time through this link. This technology provides tremendous peace of mind and prevents separation of mother and baby during this important bonding stage.
