Anesthesia
The physicians of Alliance Anesthesia Associates (AAA) provide advanced safety equipment and monitoring for St. Mary's Hospital patients. Our American Board of Anesthesiology-certified staff includes Dr. David Cohen, Dr. Tom Finkelston and Dr. Harold Lee.
More than 6,000 surgical cases are handled each year in the SMH operating rooms and surgical suites. These highly trained physicians use the most advanced technology to serve patients, keeping our procedures at the leading edge among community hospitals. We were one of the first in Maryland to start using Bispectral Index (BIS) monitors to prevent intraoperative awareness said Dr. Lee. Additionally, St. Mary's Hospital was using femoral nerve catheters to reduce pain after total knee replacement surgery before most major medical centers.
Since June 1998, AAA has provided comprehensive anesthesia services throughout the hospital, including adult and pediatric anesthesia, sedation and pain management. The group is very experienced in all forms of obstetrical anesthesia. AAA embraces the guidelines and policies of the American Society of Anesthesiologists, as well as all federal guidelines concerning the care of Medicare and Medicaid patients.
AAA provides St. Mary's Hospital patients with state-of-the-art anesthesia services equal to those available in university medical centers.
