The Birth Experience
The birth of a baby is an experience to be treasured for all time. With a tradition of caring, the birthing experience at St. Mary's Hospital is centered on creating a comfortable environment for both the mother-to-be and her family. We believe that the concept of family is one of the most important threads bringing our community together. In fact, this goal guided the plans for the extensive renovation we completed in 2003. With over 15,000 square feet of space, our Women’s Health and Family Birthing Center offers patients beautiful surroundings and the most advanced care available.
We proudly offer advanced technology, such as our telemedicine programs with the University of Maryland and Children’s National Medical Center. These innovative systems allow our patients to stay close-to-home while receiving expert care from top specialists in the region. In addition to these links, the St. Mary's Hospital Diagnostic Imaging department has acquired specialized 4-D ultrasound equipment, allowing doctors and sonographers to analyze fetal movement in the earliest stages of development. Combining progressive technology with compassionate care, our highly trained staff considers it a privilege to share in your birthing experience!
