Imaging: Angiography
St. Mary's Hospital is proud to offer advanced diagnosis and treatment for patients with disorders that affect the blood vessels. In the hospital's interventional vascular imaging suite, individuals with aneurysms, atherosclerosis, thrombosis and other conditions can be diagnosed and treated in a comfortable, close-to-home setting.
Angiography allows direct visualization of blood vessels in the body. Performed by the injection of radiographic contrast material (dye), angiography involves placing a thin, flexible catheter into a blood vessel to view problematic areas. This diagnostic procedure is done on an outpatient basis, using a light sedation to promote relaxation. The angiogram takes one to two hours in the suite, plus a four- to six-hour post-procedure period in the hospital's Ambulatory Surgery Department. For more information, please talk to your doctor, or call 301-475-6121 to speak with a member of our Imaging staff.
