Guide to Services
Rehabilitation Medicine

The Department of Rehabilitation Medicine at St. Mary's Hospital offers physical therapy, occupational therapy and speech therapy on an inpatient and outpatient basis. The objective is to return patients of all ages to (or as close as possible to) their functional level prior to an illness.

Individual programs are developed to meet each patient's needs and goals, whether it be to walk independently again or to break a high jump record. Rehabilitation medicine includes making patients stronger, relieving their pain, helping them regain use of an affected limb or guiding them to relearning activities once taken for granted in daily living. The department offers education about illnesses or injuries, and helps patients adapt to these conditions.
